October 15, 2009 - Hair and Make up Trial and Nelson Trip
I had my hair and make up trial with Lori around 11 am on Thursday. I text her my room number the previous day. While I was having my h&m trial, fiance and his friend went out to eat. Fiance also gave the CD of our ceremony music to our wedding coordinator at Wynn. H&M trial took about 2 hours, I showed her pics of hair styles I liked the make up looks that I liked and she took it from there. Lori was very easy to work with and I liked how my hair and make up turned out.
After the hair and make up trial, we went to pick up our wedding favors at Bonanza - World's Largest Gift Shop. I had ordered 73 mugs from them. I had 30 shipped to Chicago and the rest to be picked up in Vegas. After picking up the mugs, we dropped them off along with other items needed for the reception at Maggiano's. I included descriptions of how I wanted the table set up. I also pre-paid for the food since my dad was going to pay for the drinks.
Then we were off to Nelson, NV. For our photo tour, I was thinking of stopping by the dry lake bed near Boulder and then taking pics at Nelson. We drove out there to check it out first and good thing we did cuz we found out that you need to make an appointment with Eldorado Mining Tours in order to take pics there. The rate is $20 for every half hour. We didn't end up taking pics there because it was a bit far (about an hour drive) and we weren't sure if we would be able to make it there before sunset since our reception ends at 4 pm. It was a pretty cool place though and it would have been nice to take wedding pics there.
After Nelson, we went to Red Rock Canyon. I wanted to get there before sunset but we were too late and we ended up driving through the scenic drive in the dark. We should have went to Lake Mead from Nelson instead, it might have been closer.
So, after the drive through Red Rock, we met up with my future in laws at Sahara, where they were gambling. My in laws wanted to eat at the buffet there since they were going to gamble again at Sahara afterwards. After eating, we gambled a bit. I lost $60 bucks.
